Norway will be one of the partner countries of the third Energy for Smart Mobility (E4SM) Forum. Norwegian companies and experts will be in Marseille on March 31 & April 1 2020.
As explorers, fishermen and shipbuilders, Norwegians have a long tradition of using renewable energy for transportation. Today Norway is pioneering green mobility both on land and at sea. Norway is Europe’s most important market for electric vehicles, and every second new car is now electric, a world record. Underpinning this development are numerous companies offering innovative solutions for fast charging and grid balancing, energy management and smart city development. The country also hosts some of the world’s most advanced pilot projects for green, autonomous transportation and the world’s first autonomous shipping company.
Due to abundance of 100% renewable energy and focus on efficiency over years, the Norwegian mobility sector has reduced its emissions substantially. After 2025, new private cars, city buses and light vans will be zero-emission vehicles. The maritime sector is aiming for zero emissions in their near-shore fleet within 2050. Diesel engines are to be replaced by battery- and hydrogen driven ships and ferries. These ambitious goals have driven innovation across industries. The result is products and technologies that may contribute to also solving some of Europe’s and the world’s transportation challenges.
Norway will be present in Marseille through Innovation Norway, the Government’s most important instrument for innovation and business development.
